Honeycomb Biscuits

Honeycomb Biscuits

I have a childhood memory of eating honey and chewing on pieces of the honeycomb.  For no particular reason it has taken me many years to give my kids the same memory!  The other day I finally walked to the store and bought a jar of honey with a large chunk of wax honeycomb suspended in it!  We have a Mediterranean grocery store near, so maybe that made it easy to find the honey I wanted.

It didn’t seem like such a good idea to give the kids spoons and let them at the honey, so I decided to make some biscuits.  Honeycomb shaped biscuits seemed like a good idea for some reason.  So I spent a lot of time cutting out the biscuits.  And then I felt like the table needed some decorating.  Oh wait, I just remembered, this wasn’t just the other day….it was on a cold winter day.  That kind of explains why I felt the need for some bright flowery decorations for just a simple snack.  I’m crazy that way.

Here are some photos of the making of the honeycomb biscuits.  (I use the Company’s Coming Cookbook recipe for Rich Biscuits, and add some whole wheat and leave out the cream of tartar).denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb! denna's ideas: honeycomb biscuits with honey and the comb!We needed a little spring in our winter!  The kids weren’t super impressed with chewing on the honeycomb, though my husband and I enjoyed it!  They made a cozy memory, anyways, and they love the CLIC brand of honey I found.  I like making them taste things to make a memory.  Another taste memory I have of growing up in Guatemala is chewing on eucalyptus leaves!  The last time we were down there, as we were crossing a boulevard, I grabbed some leaves off a tree and made my kids bite them!  Just because I can.

What strange childhood taste memories do you have??  (not too gross please!!)

What do you think? Que piensas?
